Commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII and realised between 1580 and 1581 under the direction of the geographer Egnazio Danti, the Gallery of Maps in the Vatican is the largest pictorial cycle of cartographic figures in the world. Images and cards lead the reader along a comprehensive and articulated tour.
